Game Director Letter – January 2014

gamedirectorletter_jan14Lead Designer for The Secret World Romain Amiel here, filling in for Game Director Joel Bylos. The first month of 2014 has come to an end, which means it’s time for some new updates! The good news is that Joel will return to this side of the world next week to claim his crown back. And I will quietly go back to my other duties.

In other news, the final chapter of The Whispering Tide – the open raid against the Bird of the Zero Point Pathogen – will be going live in a few days. Based on your feedback through the Testlive Server we have decided to reduce the maximum amount of players to 40. This will help ensuring a smoother frame-rate on all machines, and therefore prevents many deaths, as the fight itself will requires a lot of movement.

Game Director Letter – July 2013

The warmth of summer is upon us and most of the dev team is back from their vacation and raring to go on Issue #8. I’ll keep this update short and sweet.

First of all, I wish to thank everybody who joined in the celebrations of the first anniversary. It was a huge success, some technical glitches aside, and it was amazing to see the way the community came together to form a great hunt which purged The Secret World of the Guardians of Gaia almost as soon as they appeared.
