Tier 1

Objective: Locate the entrance to the hot springs

Follow the objective marker on your minimap to (650, 520).

Objective: Recover the Orochi bio material testing kit

Take the kit from the back of the Orochi van.

Tier 2

Objective: Use the Orochi kit to collect samples from the Filth pools

Inside the cave you will find several filth pools guarded by zmeu. In order to actually test the filth pools you must stand in the filth pool and then use the testing equipment. You will take some damage and gain the filth exposure DoT. Be sure you have enough health to survive this. Do this in four separate filth pools.

Tier 3

Objective: Kill the Elder Zmeu and use the kit to collect samples of the Filth they leave behind

Kill three Elder Zmeu and stand near them as they die. You will receive a debuff called “Covered in Filth.” You must use the testing kit while you have this debuff to get credit for the mission.

NOTE: While here, you should pick up the side mission Panic Room since it can be completed while completing Contagion.

Tier 4

Objective: Find a path leading further down into the hot springs

You MUST update the mission by walking to (830, 550) before proceeding deeper into the cave. It is possible to skip this point by jumping over the rocks in the cave but your mission will not update and you will not be able to finish until you backtrack and walk over this spot.

Objective: Find the source of the filth

Further into the cave you will encounter many of the zmeu who can be avoided if you are careful. You will eventually come upon an opening in the tunnels with a filth hound named The Stalker in Darkness at (830, 560).

Objective: Kill the Stalker in Darkness

The Stalker in Darkness is just like any other filth hound except that at various points during the fight he will cast Dreamer’s Divide and vanish and then reappear with two clones of himself. You can interrupt Dreamer’s Divide to help speed up the fight.

Objective: Collect a Filth sample from the source

Stand in the filth pool and use the test equipment.

Objective: Inspect the Orochi laptop

Simply use the Orochi laptop.

Tier 5

Objective: Pick up the explosive charges

Pick up the charges on the ground next to the laptop.

Objective: Place the first explosive

Objective: Place the second explosive

Objective: Place the third explosive

Place an explosive on each of the columns holding up the ceiling above the filth pool.

Objective: Use the laptop to activate the explosives

Use the laptop and select option 1. As soon as you do your mission will complete but you will be given a warning to evacuate the area and a countdown. Simply run up the ramp directly across from the filth pool to exit the caves.
