Welcome to TSWDB’s new Samhain guide!
General Information
Samhain is The Secret World’s largest event. Each year sees new content as well as the return of previous Samhain events. The frightening festivities of Samhain are the spirit of the season.
There is a new event bag and community-wide investigation accompanying the Samhain event for 2016. In addition, there is a whole new Halloween-themed tie-in for The Secret World, Hide and Shriek!
Stay tuned for more information on the latest content!
Samhain 2016 begins 26 October 2016 and ends 8 November 2016.
Join #event chat!
To get the most out of this event, it is highly recommended that you join the #event channel. This can be done by typing one of the following commands depending on client language:
/chat join event
/discussion rejoindre event
/chat beitreten event
Watch out for callouts in that channel! If someone announces that Super Jack or a Rider is up, you can teleport to the Anima Well nearest to them by right-clicking their name and selecting Meet up.
Should you wish to make a callout of your own, announce in #event chat your dimension and server for which the boss is located. That way, a player can ensure they have reached the right location, especially if Jack has yet to be summoned when the callout is made or the Rider’s ritual has yet to complete.
To find your Dimension, press F9. For Dimension and Server, shift+F9 will give the full information. It is advised that server be included if using Dimension in your callout.
If it’s the first time you have joined the #event chat channel, you may also want to subscribe to the channel. Right click the chat window tab and subscribe to #event.
Due to the high activity of the channel during events, it is suggested that you create a custom tab for #event, so that it can easily be found in one place without clogging up your General tab. To do this, click the + sign in the top right corner of your chat window. A list of channels will appear. Clicking on #event will create a tab that you can separate from the main chat window or reorganize as necessary.
Should you use #event in its own solitary tab to save your General tab, it is in that case fine to unsubscribe to the #event channel in the General window. The #event channel will subsequently only appear in the desired tab.
Participation Rating System
There is a ranked participation system introduced with 2016’s Anniversary event to promote participation in boss fights while dissuading frequent AFKing.
Based on a player’s participation in a fight, they achieve a certain rating: Gold, Silver, or Bronze. Rating will determine the Pax Romana, XP, and bag rewards of a mission, with Gold rewarding the highest amount. Participation is based on how often a player is damaging or healing during an event boss over a length of time.
The Cat God – Samhain 2012
The first of the Samhain events to be introduced is the Cat God. This event includes three missions, a dungeon, and a variety of unique rewards. The missions from this portion of the event can only be completed once per year.
The Cat God
Something has spooked the cats. The frazzled felines have caused quite a ruckus in the process. Madame Rogêt is quite desperate to ease their hushed hisses.
The first mission in the chain, The Meowling, can be picked up from Madame Rogêt if need be.
Following The Meowling is Crossing the Black Path, another investigation concerning cats. This mission can also be found at Madame Rogêt if you happen to lose it.
Following the two investigation missions is The Cat God, a dungeon mission that can be completed in any difficulty of its associated dungeon.
Completion of The Cat God rewards the Filthy feline Nermegal and the achievement Tails from the Crypt.
The Memory of Stonehenge
The final mission in the chain, The Cat God, requires completion of the seasonal dungeon Memory of Stonehenge, which is accessible through a large purple portal on the burial mound of the Wabanaki Holy Site in the Blue Mountain (605,635).
Completing The Cat God unlocks the repeatable missions associated with the Memory of Stonehenge. These are Return of the Cat God and Revenge of the Cat God. Return of the Cat God is the repeatable normal mode mission, while Revenge of the Cat God is the Nightmare mode mission.
Memory of Stonehenge (Nightmare) is activated while inside Memory of Stonehenge (Normal) through use of the Altar of Irusan within the dungeon. The Altar must be activated before engaging the boss of the Memory of Stonehenge.
Memory of Stonehenge (Nightmare) has a loot table distinct from that of Normal. There is a chance for QL 10.1 weapons of every type and the Amethyst Mouser pet.
Incognito
Incognito in all of his godly glory appears throughout Kingsmouth in a great number of spawn locations. Upwards of 26 locations have been collected in the past. Incognito will stay at a particular spot for a few minutes before teleporting elsewhere.
Incognito Spawn Points
We are currently recollecting Incognito’s exact spawn points. A map will be available as well as a list of coordinates.
Upon killing Incognito, a Sack will appear on the ground for 10 seconds. Any player can loot this Sack within those 10 seconds to receive a Head-O-Lantern hat and a Bag of Tricks and Treats. Incognito will respawn at any of its points within at least 5 minutes after death.
Kitties of Ulthar
Throughout the Blue Mountain, any mob may be marked by the Haunted debuff. This debuf is accompanied by a visual orange swirl around the afflicted mob.
When a Haunted mob has been killed, a Kitty of Ulthar will spawn in its place. Kitties of Ulthar can drop the Bag of Tricks and Treats, which can drop the Pumpkinhead, bloody necessary for the achievement Head Start.
Spooky Stories of Solomon Island – Samhain 2013
The Spooky Stories of Solomon Island are a series of side missions that recount sordid stories throughout the islands. Each Spooky Story is it own distinct tale.
To start the Spooky Stories for the first time, head to the League of Monster Slayers’ tree house in the Accursed Woods of the Savage Coast (495,900).
Completion of the Spooky Stories of Solomon Island side mission will reward Danny’s Book of Spooky Stories, a permanent inventory item that serves as a compilation of all of the stories on the Island as told by the residents of Solomon Island.
Spooky Stories of Solomon Island
The Spooky Stories are scattered throughout Solomon Island. Each Story rewards a Spooky Story page and a Spooky Cat Toy. The Spooky Story pages each take up one inventory space and are necessary to complete the Spooky Stories of Solomon Island mission itself.

The Seven Silences – Samhain 2015
The Seven Silences
2015 brought The Seven Silences to the Secret World. This is a tie-in mission relating to Funcom’s first TSW spin-off, The Park and is set after the events of The Park. While the mission will make more sense if The Park has been played first, it is not necessary by any means.
You do not need to own The Park in order to complete The Seven Silences.
Warning: The Seven Silences focuses heavily on the topic of suicide.
The Rider Cometh – Samhain 2016
The Rider Cometh
The Samahin 2016 event is a community-wide investigation. It will require people coming together to unlock a reward for all of The Secret World. It begins with the side mission, Quell the Curse, which is highly investigative in nature. Hearken!
Quell the Curse begins through a tome in the Hollow Earth.
Summoning the Rider’s Curse
The Rider’s Curse can be summoned in any of the Adventure Zones through specific and unique methods.
There are 4 total Manifestations of the Rider’s Curse, one per Region.
Solomon Island — Torment of Orthus
Egypt — Mephitic Aberration
Transylvania — Phantasmagoria Confluence
Kaidan — Akumu Inugami
Empowered Manifestation of the Rider’s Curse
Through a collaborative ritual, the Empowered Manifestation of the Rider’s Curse can be summoned. The Empowered Manifestations are a stronger, more difficult version of the Manifestation bosses. The Rider’s Satchel from each Empowered Manifestation has unique rewards.
In addition, each Empowered Manifestation has the title “Lucid” in front of its name to distinguish it from its weaker form.
More detail on these bosses, their mechanics, and exact summoning details will be added shortly.
The Four Horsemen
From the Empowered Manifestations comes one final riddle. Each Region’s Empowered Manifestation has a 5% chance to drop a Torn Scrap. There are 36 total scraps and 9 scraps per Region.
Once an Empowered Manifestation has been killed, a black wisp will arise from it in the Anima World and run to a spot in the zone. Once it has landed, a symbol appears and 9 Power Fonts are usable for a very short period of time. If each corresponding Scrap is placed properly on the Power Fonts to form the image on the ground, the Torn Scraps users will receive a popup containing a hint. The images formed correspond to an aspect of the Rider.
Known Hints
Solomon Island — War: Unknown.
Egypt — Pestilence: Unknown.
Transylvania — Death: Unknown.
Kaidan — Famine: “A choir of the righteous must seek the praying circle and stone, where the Oni hells meet the undercity”
Following these clues leads to a candle that a certain group must interact with to receive a Stone.
When used, a Stone gives the user a small aura of a specific color before showing the image of the stone and going on a 50 second cooldown.
Stones of the Horseman
Stone of Pestilence — Bring a full group of Illuminati to Sol Glorificus, 329 AD. A candle sits in the Temple housing the Ancile used in A Time to Every Purpose. When all five Illuminati are at the candle, a Cryptic Cache will appear containing one Stone of Pestilence for the person who interacts with it.
Stone of War — Kill the Eidolon in N’gha-Pei the Corpse Island on any difficult and then go to a tree near the boss ring. Use an Infernal Essence and pray to the candle to receive the Curious Stockpile containing the Stone of War.
Stone of Death — Bring a full group of Dragon to Hatchet Falls through the mission When the Hatchet Falls. The candle sits within the room housing the Ancient Vampire, and as such, no traps can be tripped if you wish to access this lore at all. When all five Dragon are at the candle, an Enigmatic Coffer will appear containing one Stone of Death.
Stone of Famine — Bring a full group of Templars to Iburaki’s Lair through the mission The Right of Way. Climb down from the final platform while in the Earth dimension and then use the portal to access Hell. From there, an Illustrious Hoard will appear for the Templar group containing the Stone of Famine.
One all four Stones are acquired, their information can be used to find locations in Agartha. The exact locations will be added to this time.
When used at the correct locations, the Stones summon the Rider to Agartha. He sits on the very same portal as his Worn Tome (485,410).
Either using /bow or /bow_formal while targeting the Rider will reward a player with The Horseman’s Façade. This was the culmination of the Samhain 2016 puzzle. The Rider was summoned into Agartha on 30 October 2016 and will remain for the duration of the Samhain event.
Hide and Shriek
Released alongside Samhain 2016 is a Halloween-themed 1v1 game concerning a rivalry between Innsmouth Academy and Little Springs High. Scare the students’ of the other school while invisible! At the moment, there are two cosmetic bonuses for The Secret World when you purchase Hide and Shriek: a Jackalope pet, and a Little Springs Varsity jacket.
Clothing Rewards
The Samhain event has a variety of clothing pieces to earn.
The Horseman’s Façade
